First-ever National Black Authors Day on May 4

What is National Black Authors Day?

Are you Black? Are you an author? Then this day is for you! Thank you for picking up a pen or pencil. Thanks for typing your stories, thoughts, perspectives, and experiences. We applaud your courage and persistence. Your writing matters. We need your literature. Your words hold power. Enough power to change the world. Thank you for infusing your Black mind into literature that will influence the masses. You deserve to be celebrated. We salute you.

  • Write a thank you letter to a Black author.

  • Make a video acknowledging a Black author.

Why was this day created?
