Angel Reese signs NIL (name, image, likeness) deal
LSU Tigers women's basketball player Angel Reese has signed an NIL deal with Sports Illustrated to appear in the 2023 SI Swimsuit edition. Reese is the first college athlete to ever appear in the swimsuit issue.
Reese, a 6-foot-3 forward from Baltimore, Maryland, was a key member of the LSU team that won the 2023 NCAA women's basketball championship. She was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player after averaging 15.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.
Reese is a rising star in the women's basketball world, and her appearance in the SI Swimsuit issue is a major coup for the magazine. Reese is the first college athlete to ever appear in the swimsuit issue, and she is sure to generate a lot of buzz for the magazine.
Reese's NIL deal with SI is just one of many deals she has signed since the NCAA allowed college athletes to profit from their name, image, and likeness. Reese has also signed deals with Mercedes-Benz, Coach, and other major brands.

Dubuque Resident Will Not Be Evicted With Help of Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement
Iowa CCI negotiated a deal with a tenant and her landlord before she was set to appear in court for eviction on Friday, May 5, 2023. Because of the awareness and community support along with CCI, they held a rally in front of the courthouse on Friday. Ms. McDermott of McDermott Enterprises LLC agreed to start all repairs the same day, and reduced May's rent by $400.
Unbearable Conditions
According to Iowa CCI website,1 McDermott Enterprises LLC, is owned by Kim McDermott. Tenants have reported to live in McDermott Enterprises properties that have mice, roaches, lead, exposed wires, standing sewage, and disintegrating wood structures among other things.
In April one of her tenants dealing with these same issues, withheld her rent for that month and asked McDermott enterprises to meet with her and discuss a timeline to fix the issues with her home before she would pay rent. Kim McDermott allegedly, proceed with eviction and said to have threaten the tenant and her family of 7 with potentially being homeless.
Other tenants who reported anonymously, that Ms. McDermott has been threatening them with illegal evictions/lockouts, and refusing to return security deposits, without following up with tenant concerns.
